Hardwick Hall – Heather and Tristan
My first wedding at Hardwick Hall, a venue chosen by Heather and Tristan because of Heather’s love of the house.
The hall has a fascinating history, it was the premier residence of Bess of Hardwick, who at the time was the second richest person in England after Elizabeth the first. One of Bess’ many other houses was Chatsworth which her Son’s great grandson, the first Duke of Devonshire made the main family residence relegating Hardwick to an occasional retreat!
You really do get taken in by the history and grandeur of the hall and I can understand why Heather fell in love with the place.
Family and friends were all staying within the grounds, lots of the cottages have been converted into holiday lets, so it was easy to move around and see people. Heather was getting ready in the East Lodge, part of the old hall. This was a fantastic space to photograph the buzz of the preparations and made for a dramatic, short walk to the ‘new hall’ for the wedding ceremony.
As you can see we had an amazing day (if a little windy!) in a unique and fascinating venue. Here are a selection of my favourites from the day.
