A Christmas Wedding at Hazlewood Castle, Alex and Richard
I met Alex when she was a bridesmaid at her sisters wedding back in 2009, so I was really please when she chose me for her wedding.
My day started at Alex’s Mum and Dad’s where all the bridesmaids and Alex were getting ready, Stephanie, Alex’s sister also had her twin girls there…it was busy! I love the chaos before the wedding, it makes for great photo’s with everyone chatting, enjoying the odd glass of Champagne and buzzing around organising everything. I just step back and observe. I think it’s a privilege to see this part of the day, watch as everything comes together.
From Alex’s parents house it was on to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where Stephanie was married a few years earlier, a change in priest but the same lovely church, especially atmospheric because of the time of year. I grabbed a few shots of Richard and the boys and then let them head inside out of the cold while I waited for Alex. Alex wasn’t ready when I left so when she got out of the car it was the first time I’d seen her in the dress, she looked fabulous.! Her and the bridesmaids just looked ultra chic!
After the ceremony everyone got to thier cars fairly quickly and made the journey up to Hazlewood Castle, the perfect setting for a Christmas wedding! The venue looked amazing with all the Christmas decorations along with the wedding set up, Christmas trees, candles and fairy light everywhere. Once Alex and Richard arrived I did a quick 10 minutes of portraits, it was too cold for longer and left them to enjoy a drink with their guests. After the wedding breakfast we managed to get out for another 10 minutes and I think theses shots are my favourites, very Christmassy.
