Hello, I’m James. I would love nothing more than to share your day, your story. During your wedding I will capture all those precious moments that make your day unique. No set poses or routines, just a genuine passion to record your day with a photojournalistic eye. During your wedding I won’t hide on the sidelines, I’ll blend in – mixing with guests and capturing all those moments and subtle nuances. I am based in Sheffield, Yorkshire, but more than happy to travel throughout the UK and beyond.
I photographed my first wedding, for friends, back in 2002. Strange that they asked me, actually, as I was a sports photographer! It transpired that they liked my documentary work at sports events, all the behind the scenes stuff. At the time wedding photography was very much endless group shots and posing and they thought I could offer something different, more real. I’ve never looked back and I still have that same philosophy; to document your wedding with as little interference as possible allowing you to relive the story of your day.
Even when I’m not working I’ll be carrying a camera – my wife and kids have the eye roll down to a tee! Cycling is another love of mine, road and mountain… you’ll find me in the Peak District most weekends. I am a huge music fan and vinyl junkie and am currently enjoying Idles, the latest Suede offering, Ben Howard and Khruangbin, but I’m also not averse to good 80’s power ballad. I also enjoy coffee, real ale and in the summer there’s nothing like putting the world to rights with a glass of cold Sauvignon in front of a roaring chimenea.
” I cannot recommend James enough… He is kind, considerate and professional. His photographs are absolutely amazing and he knows how to capture a moment that will last forever. His unobtrusive style meant that we felt at ease, we barley knew he was around but he managed to capture our day perfectly. ” Emma Allen
