A beautiful crisp Winters day in Derbyshire, the perfect setting for a wedding!

I turned up to Hassop Hall in glorious Winter sunshine, the wind was bitter but the views were amazing. Jane and Will were both getting ready at Hassop so I managed to get a few shots of the boys in the grounds before they set off for the pub! Jane had a lovely big room to get ready in with her gorgeous dress hung in the perfect spot for a photo!

The wedding ceremony was held just down the road in Holy Trinity Church, Ashford in the Water, I got down in plenty of time to make sure I got some shots of Will in the pub and then walking to the church.

Although the day was cold we did manage to get outside for a few portraits in Hassop’s grounds, at this point in the day the light was amazing and I got some fantastic shots of Jane and Will, and they didn’t look cold either

Emma and Ben had chosen to have their wedding here after Emma had scoured the area for something, well a bit different.

The ceremony was at 4pm so we had no day light after but we managed to catch the sky before it went black for some lovely relaxed portraits.

The amazing wedding cake was created by the very talented Abbie and Darren from Butterflies and Angel’s, as well as looking incredible it tasted fantastic!

Lucy and Shaun’s wedding was always going to be an interesting one. Shaun is an officer in the RAF and had organised a traditional sword party. Lucy’s dress was a one off Ian Stuart number with matching bolero from The Design Room, Abingdon, Emma from Orchis had done an amazin job with the flowers(as usual)…and The Maynard!

It was a beautiful Autumn day which gave us a chance to nip up to Padley Gorge for a few photo’s, Lucy had her wedding Hunters especially! We had to contend with the wind but got some fabulous shots.

Lizzie & Chris were married in the fabulous St. John’s church in Ranmoor, which was about two minutes from where Lizzie was getting ready so kept things easy. After photographing the girls I met Chris in The Ranmoor Inn, a popular pre wedding pub just over the road from the church.

After the ceremony it was off to Kenwood Hall for the reception where I managed to get 15 minutes with Lizze & Chris between the heavy rain. Kenwood hall has lovely grounds and the Autumn colours looked brilliant.

The speeches were great, three best men certainly main for some interesting photographs!

This was my most local wedding ever! Caroline and John were getting ready at Whitley Hall, 5 minutes from my house. The wedding was then held at my local church, St. Mary’s in Ecclesfield, followed by a marquee reception in Caroline’s parents garden half a mile from the church!

I had a great day and Andrew, Caroline’s Dad even brought me a pint of Farmers Blond (my favourite beer, by Bradfield Brewery) during the meal!

Liz and Dan’s wedding was another wet one! As you can see it didn’t dampen the spirits

Hassop Hall is one of my favourite local venues, I never tire of working here, the staff are fantastic and obviously the setting is perfect…even in the rain!

Liz had organised her venue styling with Julia at Go Glorious, it’s the first time I’ve worked with her and I have to say the room looked fantastic. Catherine, my friend at Petalis had done a fantastic job (as always) with the flowers so the overall effect was stunning.

A couple of months ago I was approached by Scott Barton who asked if I was up for shooting the 2011 Grin up North image. Of course I jumped at the chance.

The running theme is always the Groucho Marx glasses, this time the idea was to get a shot with a greyhound wearing the glasses, very Northern

On the day of the shoot the Retired Greyhound Trust arrived with a selection of dogs and Scott arrived with a selection of children’s flat caps…

So, it was a little hit and miss but we ended up with a selection of images and one absolute winner.

If you are from Sheffield you have probably seen the poster, they seem to be everywhere, the photo is also the front cover of the program.

The Grin up North comedy festival runs though the whole of October and has some fantastic acts so check it out!

Ericka & Stuart were married at The Garrison hotel in Sheffield. Ericka had done all the venue design herself complete with his and hers cakes, a fabulous stripey ‘ladies’ cake and a stack of pork pies for the ‘mans’ cake.

The other love in Stuart’s life was also present, his Oldsmobile, which we took for a spin and used for a few shots.

Stacey and Nik had chosen to have an outdoor ceremony…luckily the weather played ball and the day was sunny and still…Phew!

This was also my first outdoor ceremony so was really looking forward to it. It was great to have the freedom to move around and get shots without getting in the way.

The ceremony was in the grounds of Ringwood Hall with a drinks reception on the lawn afterwards before heading into the main house for the wedding breakfast.

We had a fantastic day and even got a few late evening shots before the first dance which looked amazing!

Emma & Jim were married at Dronfield Church, it’s the first time I’ve photographed there, what a lovely old church! They then drove into Derbyshire to The Maynard for their reception.

I started the day with the boys at Emma & Jim’s house, Emma had left detailed instructions for them

Once I’d got a few shot’s I headed of to meet Emma and get a few photo’s of the girls getting ready and from there it was on to the ceremony.

On the way over to the Maynard we stopped at Padley Gorge to get a few dramatic portraits, Emma came prepared with a pair of wellies which matched the purple wedding theme

I had a fantastic day with a great group of people and as always the staff at the Maynard were brilliant, thanks!
