New Canon G10

I’ve been after the perfect compact camera for years and I think I’ve finally found it!  I got the camera before Christmas but I’ve only just got round to downloading the pictures on to the computer.  It saves me having to carry the big SLR camera when I’m out with kids or on the bike.

I’m really pleased with the results, here’s a few of the images I’ve taken over the last month or so.

imajes - My other half is dithering about buying a new camera to replace her stolen Ixus and I’ve almost got her convinced by the G10. But she says it’s too big and macho!

My latest pocket compact the very clever GX200 was bought just before G10 was announced, but G10 is a little too big for my pockets anyway, but I did think it ideal for biking – as obviously do you.
The Olympus XA was my fave pocket camera, so small and such good quality.

Ken G - Hi from Finland :-o

Yes the G10 is really good but not perfect for me. The manual controls for an old git like me are excellent but I keep hitting the dial on the back accidentally – should be able to lock it really!

My flash failed within 2 weeks but was repaired by Lehmanns in Stoke fairly quickly. I use it with a Voigtlander 28mm viewfinder on top and it’s fairly accurate (28mm only of course but at least I can see through it!).
Noisy as always though – scary above ISO 400 – DxO has their RAW module out for the G10 but haven’t had time to try it yet.

Back soon unfortunately –

Ken (Grint)
